The Declaration Automatic allows you to declare allergens and additive classes according to how you would like them to appear in the ingredient list running text of your final Declaration report. This means that there are predetermined formats in PDM based on conditions which include: singular or plural allergen/classes, ingredient lists with or without allergen statements, ingredient declaration, and bracket visibility. You can choose which conditions you would like to display by selecting from three types in the module. For more information about the types, read below.
1.In the Declaration - Automatic screen, first mark the Allergen declaration checkbox.
2.These radio buttons will determine which conditions of the types you wish to display in your running text. Toggle the buttons to make your selection and click Save.
3.The table displays the additive classes contained in your system. The Type column informs you of which type the class falls under and thus determines how the additive class can appear in the running text. In other words, if the ingredient is type 3, the ingredient will always show the E-number in brackets according to its rules, but you can filter the display to either include the ingredient's trade name or allergen by toggling the buttons labelled 2. You can also change the additive class' type by clicking in the column to reveal a dropdown list of the different types.
The result of these choices will display in the running text of the Ingredient List in the Declaration.
The three types are as follows:
When combining classes, show only the class name in the running text. If the ingredient in the running text has an allergen, the allergen name will be displayed in brackets that will vary based on whether you wish to display the allergen under its trade name or allergen name.
"Baking agent" as the additive class |
Conditional Variation Rules |
Example 1: Baking agent |
Singular without allergen ingredients in running text |
Example 2: Baking agents |
Plural without allergen ingredients in running text |
Example 3: Baking agent (Potassium) |
Singular with an allergen ingredient in combination – show trade name in running text >> in this case, "Potassium" |
Example 4: Baking agents (contains: Milk) |
Plural with allergen ingredients in combination – show allergen name in running text >> in this case, "Milk" |
1. If you toggle the first button, your running text will show: "Sugar, Salt, Baking agent (Potassium), Water."
2. If you toggle the second button, your running text will show: "Sugar, Salt, Baking agent (contains: Milk), Water."
Type 2
When combining classes, show the class name along with the associated ingredients in brackets. If the ingredient is an allergen, the allergen will also display in brackets.
"Gelling agent" as the additive class |
Conditional Variation Rules |
Example 1: Gelling agent (Sorbitol) |
Singular without allergen ingredients in running text >> in this case, "Sorbitol" displays by default because it is the associated ingredient |
Example 2: Gelling agents (Pectin, Sorbitol) |
Plural without allergen ingredients in running text >> in this case, "Pectin, Sorbitol" display by default because they are the associated ingredients |
Example 3: Gelling agents (Pectin, Sorbitol (contains: Eggs)) |
Plural with allergen in combination - Shows the allergen name in brackets in running text >> in this case, "Eggs"
|
Type 2 only has one mode so you cannot toggle for different conditions in the running text; the running text will always have a default that is based on whether you have allergens.
The running text will show: "Sugar, Salt, Gelling agent (Sorbitol), Water." or if it has allergens it will show: "Sugar, Salt, Gelling agent (Pectin, Sorbitol (contains: Eggs), Water."
Type 3
When combining classes, show class name and the E-number in brackets by their ascending order. If the ingredient in the running text has an allergen, the allergen name will be displayed in brackets that will vary based on whether you wish to display the allergen under its trade name or allergen name.
"Fixing agent" as the additive class |
Conditional Variation Rules |
Example 1: Fixing agent (E 354) |
Singular without allergen ingredients in running text |
Example 2: Fixing agents (E330, E354) |
Plural with without allergen ingredients in running text |
Example 3: Fixing agents (E330, E354 (Calcium citrate)) |
Plural with an allergen ingredients in combination – show trade name in running text >> in this case "Calcium citrate" |
Example 4: Fixing agents (E330, E354 (contains: Milk)) |
Plural with an allergen ingredients in combination – show allergen name in running text >> in this case, "Milk" |
1. If you toggle the first button and the class has an allergen, your running text will show: "Sugar, Salt, Fixing agent (E330, E354 (Calcium citrate)), Water."
2. If you toggle the second button and the class has an allergen, your running text will show: "Sugar, Salt, Fixing agent (E330, E354 (contains: Milk)), Water."
PDM also allows a user to declare the additive classes contained within combined ingredients. These summarized classes should be displayed in the running text and generated ingredient list of the Declaration.
An example use case is as follows:
A recipe contains sugar, citric acid (E 330), riboflavin (E101), Annatto (E160B), and spices (combined ingredient consisting of pepper, garlic, guar gum, xanthan gum) and flour. Guar gum (E412) and zanthan gum (E415) are stabilizers.
**Though PDM will only display the text in a black font color, the additive classes have been highlighted in red for demonstrative purposes of this manual. The red text shows how the additive classes of combined ingredients would be summarized.**
In its simplest form, the Ingredient List in Master Data should read, "Sugar, Flour, Acid: Citric acid, Colors: Riboflavins and Annatto, Spices (pepper, garlic, stabilizers: guar gum and xanthan gum)."
The generated Ingredient List in Declaration should read, "Sugar, Flour, Acid: E330, Colors: E101, E160B, Spices (pepper, garlic, stabilizers: E412, E415)."
